LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nearly half of disaster survivors who visited Nebraska Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) learned the location and schedule from traditional media outlets -- newspapers, television and radio. Together, the media sources accounted for 40 percent of the responses. Word of mouth from friends, family and others was cited by another 20 percent of visitors.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) operated by the state of Nebraska, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), is scheduled to re-open at 1 p.m. Thursday in Douglas County to assist those affected by recent flooding. The DRC will be at the Omaha-Douglas Civic Center, 1819 Farnam St., Omaha, NE 68183, for three days:

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards
