LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today the implementation of a new website that provides the general public, the media, county, state and federal officials with information about the three federally declared disasters that occurred in Arkansas earlier this year.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-- Federal funding for emergency housing, other needs assistance, low interest disaster loans and eligible public assistance now totals $5,725,055. This is assistance approved to date for Arkansas residents in the four Individual Assistance as well as the five Public Assistance counties declared for the storms and tornadoes on April 9, 2009. The application period closed on June 26. Below is the funding for individual assistance approved for homeowners and renters in Ashley, Miller, Polk and Sevier counties through FEMA's Individuals and Households Program:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- More than $3.3 million in emergency housing, other needs assistance, and low interest disaster loans have been approved for Arkansas residents in the four Individual Assistance declared counties. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) continue to accept applications and disburse monies for eligible losses from the April 9 storms and tornadoes.

Individual Assistance - Dollars Approved

Individuals & Household Program (IHP): Provides money and services to people in Presidentially declared disaster areas.

Housing Assistance (HA): Provides assistance for disaster-related housing needs.

Other Needs Assistance (ONA): Provides assistance for other disaster-related needs, such as furnishings, transportation, and medical.

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards

*Dollars Approved: Assistance dollars approved but not necessarily disbursed.

*Dollars Obligated: Funds made available to the State via electronic transfer following FEMA's final review and approval of Public Assistance projects.
