LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today the implementation of a new website that provides the general public, the media, county, state and federal officials with information about the three federally declared disasters that occurred in Arkansas earlier this year.

June 19, 2009 - News Release

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- As of Friday, June 19, 2009, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has obligated more than $129.5 million to the state of Arkansas for eligible public assistance projects.  This funding addresses damage, losses and emergency protective costs associated with the late January, 2009 ice storm. The breakdown, by category, for obligated FEMA funds to applicants in the 30 counties declared eligible for federal funding is:

May 11, 2009 - News Release

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has obligated nearly $35 million to the state of Arkansas for 375 eligible public assistance projects to date. This funding addresses damages and incurred costs brought about by the late January, 2009, ice storm. Part of the $35 million will help cover debris removal costs incurred by Boone, Greene, Newton and Sharp counties and the city of Fayetteville in Washington County.  Electric Cooperatives in Clay and Craighead counties will use funds to the replace damaged electric utility equipment.

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards

*Dollars Obligated: Funds made available to the State via electronic transfer following FEMA's final review and approval of Public Assistance projects.
