BATON ROUGE, La. -- The state of Louisiana and the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced today that deadlines are approaching for eligible local and parish government agencies, school districts, and certain private nonprofit organizations to submit Requests for Public Assistance for damage caused by Tropical Storm Lee between Sept. 1 and 5, 2011. Public Assistance is available under a presidential major disaster declaration for the parishes of East Feliciana, Jefferson, Lafourche, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, Terrebonne and West Feliciana.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that federal aid has been made available to the state of Louisiana to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area affected by Tropical Storm Lee during the period of September 1-5, 2011.

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards
