SPRINGFIELD, Ill., -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Natural Resources Conservation Service and other federal and state agencies will conduct the third meeting of an Interagency Levee Task Force (ILTF) on Oct. 23 at the Illinois Department of Natural Resources building in Springfield, Ill., to include a media opportunity.
CHICAGO, Ill. -- The state of Illinois and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open the fourth Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) to serve residents and businesses affected by the severe storms and flooding that began on Sept. 13.
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- More than $15.4 million in federal disaster assistance grants and loans has been approved so far by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for Illinois residents who suffered damages and losses during the severe storms and flooding June 1 through July 22. To date, 3,303 homeowners and renters from the 18 designated counties have applied for disaster assistance.

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President
Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards
*Dollars Approved: Assistance dollars approved but not necessarily disbursed.
*Dollars Obligated: Funds made available to the State via electronic transfer following FEMA's final review and approval of Public Assistance projects.
