Army Combat Engineers Train in Bomb Detonation
Army Spc. Joshua Hutchins and Spc. Ryan Frye thread a Bangalore torpedo through a barrier of barbed wire during combat engineer training on Fort Bragg, N.C., Feb. 23, 2011. The explosive device is used to clear a path through barbed wire and mines. Hutchins and Frye are assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team.

U.S. Troops Secure a Landing Zone in Afghanistan
U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Jason Rutledge dismounts his mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicle to check on the condition of a dirt landing zone near Forward Operating Base Lagman in Zabul province, Afghanistan, Feb, 16, 2011. Rutledge, an air controller, is assigned to the 807th Expeditionary Air Support Operations Squadron. He and other airmen in the support squadron secured the landing zone to make sure it was safe for a C-130 Hercules carrying cargo to land. They also provided the aircrew with pertinent information via radio communications.
