AN/SQQ-34 Aircraft Carrier Tactical Support System (CV-TSC)

Background
CV-TSC is a post-milestone C Acquisition Category (ACAT) III program that has evolved through several incremental upgrades from a stand-alone system to a network centric distributed system and integrated element of the CVN combat system. The program was initiated in 1973 to provide aircraft carrier based USW / SUW support and Command and Control (C2) capabilities to the embarked S-3 Viking fixed wing and SH-3 Sea King helicopter squadrons. The CV-TSC system continues to evolve as required to support the emerging warfighting needs of the Navy. There are currently four variants of the system fielded on CVNs: AN/SQQ-34A(V)5; 34B(V); C(V)1; and the 34C(V)2. All fielded systems are being upgraded to the AN/SQQ-34C(V)2 variant that provides support for the MH-60R multi-mission helicopter. Future upgrades of the system will provide mission support to additional aircraft, including the Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) and the P-8 Poseidon multi-mission aircraft.
