Pasadena, CA -- As public agencies in Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Tulare counties begin planning winter storm recovery projects funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA) they will consider environmental and historic matters as well as contracting issues.
Pasadena, Calif. - Thursday, March 31, 2011 is the deadline for California state and local agencies, tribal nations and certain private nonprofit agencies in Madera and Mariposa counties, that may be eligible for federal and state disaster assistance, to submit Request for Public Assistance (RPA) forms to the California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA).
Pasadena, Calif. -- On March 3, 2011, at the request of Mike Dayton, the acting Agency Secretary for the California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA), Madera and Mariposa counties were added by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to the 10 original California counties included in President Obama's January 26, 2011, major disaster declaration. As a result, state and local government agencies, special districts and certain private non-profit (PNP) organizations that provide essential governmental services in these counties may now qualify for state and federal reimbursements

Public Assistance DefinitionsPublic Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President
Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President
Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards

*Dollars Obligated: Funds made available to the State via electronic transfer following FEMA's final review and approval of Public Assistance projects.
