Springfield, MA - In an initial tally, more than $1,605,050 has been obligated for snow removal costs incurred in five New England states as a result of the severe President's Day storm according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Local governments, certain private non-profit organizations and tribal governments in Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Rhode Island became eligible for federal assistance as a result of emergency declarations by President George W. Bush.
Springfield, MA - Following the designation of Rhode Island for emergency federal assistance for snow removal, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today a briefing schedule for applicants. Meetings will be held Tues. in Warwick at the Radisson Airport hotel. The morning session at 10:00 is for the 26 affected communities in Providence and Washington counties. A second briefing for state agencies and certain private non-profit organizations will take place at 1:30 p.m.
Springfield, MA - Local governments and private certain non-profit organizations, in designated counties in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Connecticut have until April 9 to submit applications for assistance if they want emergency costs for winter snow clearance to be considered for reimbursement, State and Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) officials said today. The assistance to communities covers 75 percent of the eligible costs during a specified 48-period, according to James N. Russo, Federal Coordinating Officer.
