Highest Fuel Economy by Vehicle Class: 2012 Model Year

2012 Fuel Economy Information

Rankings are based on combined city and highway fuel economy estimates (weighted by 55% city and 45% highway). In classes where the most fuel-efficient vehicle is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) or electric vehicle (EV), the best conventional gasoline, diesel, or regular hybrid vehicle is also listed.

† This is an all-electric vehicle. Since electricity is not measured in gallons, a conversion factor is used to translate the fuel economy into miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent (MPGe).

* This vehicle is a plug-in hybrid, which runs on both gasoline and electricity. Since electricity is not measured in gallons, a conversion factor is used to translate the fuel economy when running on electricity into miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent (MPGe). The combined MPGe estimate includes a mix of gasoline and electric energy use.

** There are no vehicles of manual transmission for model year 2012 for this vehicle class. The fuel economy of FFVs is determined with the vehicle operating on gasoline.
