Finding GLOBE Data

Visualize GLOBE Data

GLOBE provides the ability to view and interact with data measured across the world. Select our visualization tool to map, graph, filter and export data that has been measured across GLOBE protocols since 1995.

Currently the tool supports a subset of protocols focused on Atmospheres, however over the next few months, we will be returning all data to allow the visualization of the complete set of 56 protocols.

The visualization tools allows for multiple layers to be placed on top of one another, various base layers to be switched in and out and a variety of filters to help you find exactly the data you need.

In addition to the map based real time view, the data can be exported in an Excel compatible file, plotted in a 2D graph and exported to a 3D google earth viewer.

There is a detailed help available by clicking on the ? icon on the top left of the tool.

Quickstart

  1. Under data layers – select the protocol you are interested in
  2. On the filters – select the date you wish to see the data
  3. Data will be updated within a few seconds of your selection

Additional options

  1. Modify the Basemap, or select one of the supplementary maps to overlay on the data you've selected
  2. Select Contours to see your data selection mapped with contours
  3. Layers can be turned on and off using the check boxes, and re-ordered by dragging layers
  4. Filters include by total amount of data available at a site, by elevation and by location

Site information and plots

Clicking on a data point will bring up information about the site including information on what other data has been measured at that site location. The data can be viewed as a table, or selected to be plotted in a 2-D X/Y plot. Multiple sites can be selected to lay one site on top of another, or different protocols on top of one another.

We hope you enjoy the new tool. From July through October 2012, there will be additions to the tool with new capabilities and additional data becoming available.
