Through Sunday: Quilting in the Alsace
Those who enjoy quilting and patchworking can make tracks to the village of Ste. Marie-aux-Mines, in France’s Alsace region.
Through Sunday, the European Patchwork Meeting offers visitors the chance to see more than 1,000 quilts from around the world. Visitors can learn patchwork techniques or browse the latest collections of fabrics and sewing aids. Exhibitions are spread across 22 sites within the four villages of the Val D’Argent.
Ste. Marie-aux-Mines was the birthplace in 1693 of the Amish movement, a community closely associated with quilt-making.
One-day entry for adults is 13 euros; children up to age 14 enter free. A multiday pass costs 29 euros. Hours are 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m., with a 6 p.m. closing Sunday. See www.patchwork-europe.com.
