CLINTON, Miss. -- Survivors of the May 1-2 Mississippi storms and flooding have until July 13 to register for state and federal assistance. People in five disaster-affected counties can register by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 800-462-7585 for the speech and hearing impaired. Phone lines are open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and help is available in all languages. Online registrations can be submitted to www.disasterassistance.gov.
CLINTON, Miss. -- The deadlines to apply for federal disaster grants and low-interest loans are fast approaching for disaster survivors who live in 13 Mississippi counties, recovery officials said today.
CLINTON, Miss. -- If you suffered income losses from the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that struck Alcorn, Benton, Lafayette, Tippah and Tishomingo counties on May 1-2, you have until June 16 to apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance. This is a federally funded program administered through the Mississippi Department of Employment Security to help workers whose primary income was lost or interrupted by the May storms. Even those who don't normally qualify for unemployment insurance benefits, such as farmers and the self-employed, may be covered.
