- August Newsletter Released (Aug 15) Our latest issue of "GPS Tracker" highlights the latest FY 2013 Air Force GPS funding, the recent House hearing on GPS spoofing of aerial drones, and use of GPS by 4-H youth.
- Senate Appropriators Follow Authorizers' Recommendations on GPS Funding (Aug 6) We updated the FY 2013 funding page with the Senate Appropriations Committee's marks for the Air Force GPS program. The Senate numbers line up with those in the National Defense Authorization Act passed by the House and awaiting Senate floor action.
- Senate Appropriators Complete Defense Markup (Aug 3) This week, the Senate Appropriations Committee marked up and passed its version of the defense spending bill for FY 2013. No details have been released yet about the GPS line items.
- House Approves Cuts to Air Force GPS Funding (Jul 20) Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed the FY 2013 defense appropriations act with $48.3 million in reductions to the Air Force's $1.26 billion GPS program. The bill now awaits Senate consideration.
- Appropriators Urge Final FCC Action on LightSquared (Jul 2) We updated our page on LightSquared-related legislation to reflect the House Appropriations Committee's report language to accompany H.R. 6020, the bill that funds the FCC. The report, dated June 26, urges the prompt adoption of the actions that the FCC proposed in February with regard to LightSquared.

(Aug 21) We closed down the PNT.gov website, which provided information about GPS policy and management for the past 6-7 years. Virtually all the information from that site is now available in the new Governance section of GPS.gov, where it should be easier to find and understand. Registration Open for 52nd CGSIC Meeting
(Aug 2) The next full meeting of the Civil GPS Service Interface Committee (CGSIC) will take place on September 17-18, 2012, in Nashville, TN, in conjunction with the ION GNSS 2012 conference. In addition, the CGSIC States and Local Government Subcommittee will meet August 14 in Seattle, WA. Both meetings are free and open to the public.
