    The 14th annual National America Recycles Day was held on Tuesday, Nov. 15. America Recycles Day encourages us to recycle and create a demand for recyclables by using products made from recycled material. What better way to create awareness of the importance of recycling, and to increase recycling than by having school children participate in a Recyclable Robot contest? The DPW Environmental Division challenged the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Schools to participate by building robots made out of recyclable materials. A winner for each participating grade level for each school was chosen. Winners were announced and recognized during a recycling awareness presentation given by the Environmental Recycling Program on Nov. 15 and 16.

    ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. -- After five months of engineering and production work, the U.S. Army has completed its first vehicle designed for recruiting civilian scientists. The Army will unveil the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Asset Vehicle during All-American Bowl Week Jan. 6 in San Antonio. The Army demonstrates its latest technological advancements in the Army Technology Zone before the annual game. Before the vehicle's official launch in January, students from seven Maryland schools will have an opportunity for a hands-on look. The STEM Asset vehicle is a modified tractor-trailer equipped with high-definition TVs and touchscreen computers. Students will explore a futuristic scenario by designing new Army technology to protect lives from civil unrest.

    Army National Guard Soldiers from Wisconsin, Georgia, and eight other states comprising the U.S. component of KFOR 15 recently completed a Mission Readiness Exercise at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany. The 21-day exercise incorporated training for Liaison Monitoring Teams, civil disturbance response, and joint patrols- critical elements of KFOR's mission to support a safe and secure environment in Kosovo. Observer/Controller-Trainers from JMRC travelled to Kosovo twice prior to the rotation in order to ensure the training environment closely replicated current conditions on the ground. JMRC provides one of the few environments where Soldiers can work closely with multinational partner units- often the same units with whom they will deploy.

    Construction continues at the Radar Cross Section Test Facility project site at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, Nov. 16, 2011. A small tower within the facility will house a vertically movable antenna system, which will blast aircraft with radar to test its stealth capabilities. The VMAS can be adjusted for various aircraft including the F-22 Raptor fighter aircraft. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District is overseeing construction of the $25.8 million project, scheduled for completion in February 2013.
