    The 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, has been extended in Iraq for about 46 days. The brigade was scheduled to redeploy in mid-January 2007 and will now begin that redeployment in late February. Also, the 4th Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division will deploy 30 days earlier then originally scheduled, beginning their deployment in late October. These adjustments are being made to maintain the force structure of 15 combat brigades in Iraq.

The Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, & Logistics (AT&L), Mr. Kenneth Krieg, also approved the criteria that will be met before the capabilities go into production. The decision, which was the result of the FCS (BCT) program review initiated in May 2006, requires the Army to prepare for an interim program review in late 2008.

    82nd Paratrooper becomes Buckmaster Pfc. Elliot Perry, 21, of Denison, Texas, a machine gunner with 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, grew up hunting, so knowing a lot about wildlife and hunting strategy is second nature for this 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper. Perry was able to out perform 48 other soldiers with his knowledge of wildlife and hunting skills to win the Jackie Bushman, 2006 Buckmasters Challenge July 26 on the nationally televised Jackie Bushman Show.
