Top News: The Year in Review

In 2012, bullying was again in the limelight as video of a school bus monitor being harassed went viral. Also, the U.S. pupil transportation community made connections abroad to help other countries safely transport their students.

Around Veterans' Day, I came across a lot of touching stories online about how service dogs are helping veterans. It got me thinking about how these animals assist students with disabilities, and their impact on a district’s or bus company’s school bus service.

MOXA Americas Inc.’s VPort P06-1MP-M12 IP surveillance camera features a wide -40 to 75 C operating temperature, vibration-resistant M12 connectors, EN 62262 IK8 vandal-resistant design, audio input, PoE power input, and IP66 rain and dust protection. The camera supports up to 30 frames per second at 720P HD (1280x800) resolution.

The 47 mm high camera is well suited for vehicle applications with limited installation space.

PH-4 in-vehicle recorder

Planet Halo’s PH-4 in-vehicle recorder allows users to track down violators' license plates with a small stop-arm camera featuring high-resolution video.  

PH-4 offers detailed monitoring and usage history of the bus. Features include a built-in GPS route tracker via seamless integration with Google Earth, and a daily tracker that provides an in-depth analysis of the vehicle’s average speed and routes.

Oil Eater drum top pad

The new Oil Eater drum top pad is designed to keep slippery, dangerous chemicals off the floor by catching and absorbing oil, coolants and solvents.

The pad fits a 55-gallon drum top perfectly with pre-cut circles for fill and breather holes, according to the company. It is made of natural plant by-products that feature woven construction.

Diamond Lift

Stertil-Koni’s high-pressure telescopic piston lift, the Diamond Lift, is available in either a two- or three-piston configuration with a total lifting capacity of 64,000 pounds and 96,000 pounds, respectively.

The design of the Diamond Lift’s telescopic pistons protects all the critical seals from potential damage by debris. Furthermore, the piston rods are hard-chrome plated for maximum protection against corrosion and wear.
