Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen issued the following statement congratulating the State of Maryland on being named the #1 Public School System in the country by Education Week:

“Congratulations to the State of Maryland on being named the #1 Public School System for the fourth year in a row by Education Week, the nation’s leading education newspaper. Our state’s continued success is a result of dedicated and talented teachers, administrators, and school leaders. It is also thanks to Maryland’s Thornton funding formula for schools, which prioritizes important investments in education, and the leaders who work to protect those investments. I will continue to work with Governor Martin O’Malley, Interim Superintendent of Schools Bernard Sadusky, and my colleagues in Congress to provide opportunities for all of our students to succeed.”
