11/15/2010: Dallas Man Pleads Guilty to Possessing Child Pornography - North Texas RCFL Examiner Testified at Trial
Monte Melugin, 24, of Dallas is facing up to 20 years in prison for receiving child pornography, a $250,000 fine, and a lifetime of supervised release when he is sentenced on 3/9/11. Melugin plead guilty during his trial to one count of receiving child pornography. An Examiner assigned to the North Texas RCFL (NTRCFL) testified that she identified more than 600 images and videos of child pornography on Melugin's personal computer according to a press release issued by the FBI.
Child pornography is considered contraband – having it in your possession is illegal. Citizens can report someone they suspect has child pornography to their local police department, the FBI, or the National Center of Exploited and Missing Children's Cyber tipline on 1-800-843-5678.
The NTRCFL is accredited by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board under the Legacy and international program in digital evidence.
