“The subcommittee will continue to examine how both federal agencies and commercial wireless carriers might benefit from more efficient government use of spectrum. As the single largest spectrum user, the federal government could save taxpayers money and make more frequencies available to meet American consumers’ growing demand for mobile broadband services, while improving its own capabilities,” said Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR).
Throughout the 112th Congress, the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology has focused on freeing more spectrum, most notably in the bipartisan spectrum provisions of the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012, which will support the buildout of the next generation of wireless broadband networks and help create of hundreds of thousands of jobs.
