Brown Sugar Shortbread

Brown Sugar Shortbread

Christmas isn’t here yet, but I’m already craving cookies like crazy.  This morning I was looking through different cookie recipes I’ve posted in the past and I ran across this recipe for Brown Sugar Shortbread that was hidden in a post about Lemon Shortbread from a few years back.  Since these cookies are so delicious, I decided it was time to give them their own space to shine.  Keep in mind that a batch of shortbread packaged in a cute box or tin makes a wonderful gift! Cranberry White Chocolate Pecan Cookies

Cranberry White Chocolate Pecan Cookies

When it comes to dried fruit, cranberries do not top my list of favorites.  I love raisins, prunes, dried apricots, dried peaches, and dried tart cherries any time of the year, but it’s rare to find a bag of dried cranberries in my pantry most of the time.  However, when Thanksgiving rolls around, I start thinking cranberries and the dried ones inevitably start showing up in my green salads and baked goods and continue to do so through January.  They add a festive pop of color and the flavor pairs beautifully with oranges, one of my favorite things to eat in the winter.  I do use the fresh ones for holiday cranberry sauces and relishes, but I think dried cranberries are wonderful in cookies, muffins, scones, and green salads. Free Shipping at King Arthur Flour

King Arthur Flour

I don’t normally use this space to announce sales or shopping deals, but today on Facebook I noticed that King Arthur Flour is offering completely free shipping on orders of $60 or more until tomorrow (Sunday, November 25) at midnight. For years, King Arthur Flour has been one of my favorite places to shop for specialty baking ingredients and with Christmas right around the corner, I’ll definitely be taking advantage of this offer tomorrow!  Just thought I’d give you a heads up in case you’d like to stock up on some things as well. What I Made for Thanksgiving

Broccoli Cheese Casserole

We spent Thanksgiving at my grandparents’ house so I didn’t have to worry about making an entire Thanksgiving meal.  I was really only in charge of pies this year, but at the last minute decided I’d also try this Broccoli Cheese Casserole from Simply Recipes.  It was easy to make and everyone enjoyed it. How to Make an Apple Galette

Here’s another recipe from the past that I’m pulling forward to share with you again.  This Apple Galette recipe was originally posted in October of 2008.

Fall is here, the holidays are near, and the season of eating is officially upon us.  For me, that means it’s time for apple pie.  This is my third sixth year at Pinch My Salt, and every year I have grand plans to write about holiday recipes.  So far, I’ve failed miserably!  Sure, I always manage to post a few pumpkin recipes here and there, but when it comes to the real stuff: the pies, the turkey, the cranberries, the dressing, I always step back and let the pros help you out. (Edit: I do have more holiday recipes on the blog now. You can find them here.)
