JOB SUMMARY:

The Pathways Internship Program combines the opportunity to earn a competitive salary while learning about federal service and the dynamic field of energy.  Interns gain valuable, resume- building work experience and opportunities to foster networking relationships.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is an independent regulatory agency that regulates and oversees various aspects of the energy markets within the United States. FERC provides career opportunities in a variety of fields and specialties for professions including: accountants, economists, engineers, energy industry analysts, environmental specialists, and attorneys. If you are seeking a bachelors or masters degree, possess outstanding communication skills and are looking for an opportunity to challenge your leadership and teambuilding skills, then this opportunity is for you. In general, the Commission hires students with majors in the following fields: electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, finance, business, economics, human resources, and biological and environmental sciences. You must be enrolled in school for the Fall 2012 semester.

In the STARS program, you will gain first-hand experience in the federal government by providing clerical and administrative support to the Human Resources Division and other offices throughout FERC.  Typical assignments for our STARS include:

  • providing administrative support to our program offices
  • producing a variety of documents and routine correspondence
  • providing assistant services in all aspects of office management
  • completing special projects

To be eligible for internship positions:

  • You must be enrolled or accepted into an accredited educational institution (High school, technical or vocational program, two or four year college or university, graduate or professional school).
  • You must be taking at least half-time course work leading to a degree, diploma or certificate.
  • You must have completed at least 2 years (60 credit hours) of post-high school study or associates degree.
  • You must meet the qualifications by the closing date of this announcement.


 

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
