Des Moines Man Pleads Guilty to Molotov Cocktail Conspiracy

DES MOINES, IOWA – On August 27, 2012, Dentaro Andre Lee pled guilty to conspiracy for his role in the fire-bombing of a Des Moines, Iowa apartment complex in January 2011, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt.

In the early morning of January 3, 2011, Gregory Harris and Jeremy Dennis threw three Molotov cocktails at the leasing office of the Deer Ridge Apartment Complex in Des Moines. The incident resulted in damage to the leasing office building and two vehicles parked nearby. Lee, along with Robert Bell, helped acquire the components to assemble the Molotov cocktails and provided transportation to and from Deer Ridge Apartment Complex that night.

Lee faces a maximum sentence of up to five years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release his role in the conspiracy. His sentencing is scheduled for November 25, 2012. Bell and Dennis both previously pled guilty to malicious use of explosive materials and are awaiting sentencing. Harris previously pled guilty to arson in the 2nd degree in Polk County District Court.

The case was investigated by the Des Moines Police Department and the ATF, and prosecuted by the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
