Numbers of K-12 teacher participants and K-12 student participants who received NASA-affiliated GLOBE training and subsequently participated in data collection during fiscal years 2003 - 2011 (October 1 - September 30 of each year). Data displayed for 2011 is current at the time the page is loaded.

The GLOBE Program Office (GPO) is able to confidently report the number of teachers trained by the GLOBE community each year. However, the GPO is not able to provide exact figures representing student participation due to the presence of unknown variables such as whether each GLOBE teacher is teaching only one classroom of students or teaches multiple classrooms (such as in middle school/high school settings), and given this, we realize that this statistic can also change over the course of a given year. Therefore, the student estimates provided below are extremely conservative estimates, assuming that teachers only work with one classroom of students, using 25 students as the average classroom size. Please note that the GPO promotes a "team" approach to implementation within schools (forming teams of teachers within each school instead of past models that concentrated on training one teacher per GLOBE school).

We believe that the proper way to characterize these results would be:
"Total number of teachers who received NASA-affiliated GLOBE training in Fiscal Year XX (FYXX) and whose school then participated in GLOBE data collection."
