Volunteers for Prosperity manages the Volunteers for Prosperity Service Incentive Program (VfPServe), a public-private partnership of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), skilled American professionals and U.S. non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The program aims to improve the affordability of short-term international service by providing matching grants for individuals volunteering in USAID priority sectors.
VfPServe provides competitive grants to U.S. partner organizations to assist Americans with relevant professional experience who wish to volunteer. VfPServe grants (ranging from $500 to $1000) are individual, non-renewable and are designated to offset volunteer travel and living expenses while on assignment. VfP provides a dollar for dollar match for funds raised by volunteers up to a $1000. Volunteer assignments are supervised by U.S. non-profits affiliated with the VFPServe Program.
Since it inception, VfPServe has received applications from over 300 skilled Americans interested in short term international service and provided skilled volunteers serving in over 35 developing countries.
