Operation Summer Heat

Truth or Consequences, NM - On May 31, 2012 members of the Marshals Service South West Investigative Fugitive Task Force (SWIFT) in conjunction with representatives Truth or Consequences Police Department, Sierra County Sheriff’s Department and New Mexico State Probation Department conducted a fugitive Operation in Sierra County, New Mexico. The objective of “Operation Summer Heat” was to locate and arrest individuals who had Felony Warrants for their arrest and who reside in Sierra County.

This one day Joint Operation in Sierra County resulted in 6 felony arrests. The United States Marshals Service has a long history of cooperation with Local and State law enforcement agencies in pursuing dangerous criminals attempting to elude the justice system. Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the apprehension of approximately 34,000 federal fugitives nationally. More federal fugitives are arrested by Marshals than all other federal agencies combined.

The Southwest Investigative Fugitive Team is a team comprised of law enforcement officers from: New Mexico Attorney General’s Office; New Mexico State Police; New Mexico Department of Corrections; Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office; Las Cruces Police Department; Albuquerque Police Department; Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office; Rio Rancho Police Department; Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office; Santa Fe Police Department; San Juan County Sheriff’s Office; McKinley County Sheriff’s Office; Farmington Police Department; Bloomfield Police Department; U. S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife; and Bureau of Indian Affairs. The task force objective is to seek out and arrest all Violent Offenders.
