Operation Safe House
On June 17th, 2011, the United States Marshals Service (USMS) Central District of California (C/CA) Sex Offender Investigator Coordinator (SOIC), Sex Offender Investigator Branch (SOIB), the Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force (PSWRFTF) and USMS Special Response Team (SRT) in conjunction with the California Department of Corrections (Parole), Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) REACT K-9 Unit, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department participated in “Operation Safe House.”

Operation Safe House targeted active sex offenders on GPS supervision and was organized in response to allegations that parolees may be in possession of child pornography, possession and use of illegal substances, possession of firearms and alleged prostitution.  The LAPD has also received numerous complaints of rampant drug trafficking at the “Harbor Inn Hotel.”  Furthermore, the operation  ensured sex offenders were in compliance with conditions of parole and sex offender registration requirements.

In total, 8 parolees were arrested for various violations and one probationer was arrested for probation violations. Firearms ammunition was located in the community bathroom of the hotel and four computers were seized by the FBI for possible open filings of cyber related crimes.
