About CNFA

Founded in 1985, CNFA is a Washington, DC-based, non-partisan, not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering people economically to give them the tools and confidence they need to improve their lives. CNFA is committed to providing economic opportunities to entrepreneurs in developing countries, where far too many people live in poverty and enterprises often fail simply because they do not have the tools they need to succeed. CNFA promotes public-private sector partnerships as a way to jumpstart economic growth, specializing in engaging private sector investment in training, new technology and marketing as a means to increase overall competitiveness, expand exports and ultimately generate higher incomes all along the value-chain for farmers, processors and distributors.

Through its volunteer programs in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, CNFA provides opportunities for U.S. farmers, agribusiness professionals and other agriculturists to help contribute to democracy-building and the development of a market economy by sharing their expertise with aspiring entrepreneurs across the globe.

International Voluntary Service Activities

Through the USAID-funded Farmer-to-Farmer Program, American volunteers share their knowledge in high-value agricultural crop production, food processing, farm financial management and business planning, marketing, cooperative/organizational development, livestock production, banking and finance and rural credit. Assignments are typically 16-19 days long and seek U.S. citizens or green card holders with extensive professional experience in agriculture who are eager to work with program participants in Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique, Angola and Malawi. All volunteer assignment expenses are covered by CNFA.
