Large fires Washington, Oregon, Montana and Idaho made significant acreage gains over the past 24 hours. In Washington, the Barker Canyon Complex burned more than 75,000 acres, and the Apache Pass fire burned 10,000. The Dutch fire in Montana grew by nearly 16,000 acres, and the Mustang fire in Idaho burned an additional 8,400 acres. About 14,500 firefighters and support personnel are currently assigned to large fires across the country. Fire managers and firefighters are prepared for another day of warm temperatures in the West.

Two MAFFS from the 146th Airlift Wing, Channel Islands (California Air National Guard), and the 145th Airlift Wing, Charlotte, NC are supporting wildland fire suppression operations out of Sacramento, CA.

Weather: High pressure over the West will bring warming to the region. Scattered thunderstorms will form over the Four Corners states and along a front stretching from Kansas to the Great Lakes. Some storms could produce heavy rain. Strong and gusty winds will develop over the far northern
Plains, creating near critical fire weather conditions. Mild and generally quiet conditions will persist over the East and South with very warm conditions continuing over Texas and Oklahoma.
