Accessibility

The US-IPY is committed to making every document on its World Wide Web server accessible to the widest possible audience.

We work with accessibility specialists and with other federal agencies and federal web consortia to ensure that our documents are, to the maximum extent feasible, accessible to persons using special screen reading software and hardware.

US-IPY also encourages its participating agencies and organizations to use the web to disseminate information about their work, and to create World Wide Web pages that are generally accessible for persons using screen reading devices.

Security

This is a National Science Foundation federal government computer system. Unauthorized attempts to modify any information stored on this system, to defeat or circumvent security features, or to use this system for other than its intended purposes are illegal and may result in disciplinary action, criminal prosecution, or both.

Copyright and Reuse of Text and Graphics

The US-IPY website uses externally-produced material (graphics, text, etc.) with permission of the copyright holder. If you believe material to which you have rights has been improperly included, please provide the URL to the webmaster.

Most text appearing on US-IPY web pages was either prepared by employees of the United States Government as part of their official duties and therefore not subject to copyright or prepared under contracts that gave US-IPY the right to place the text into the public domain.

With the exception of logos, permission to use graphics is granted on a case by case basis. Some are public domain, some are created by US-IPY contractors, and some are used by US-IPY with specific permission granted by the owner. Therefore, photos and illustrations found on the US-IPY web site should not be reused without permission.
