Points & Leaderboards

Adobe actively encourages positive contributions and engagement in our expert community. Participation in the Adobe expert community is measured by points. The point system serves to:

  • Communicate the activity level of participants
  • Encourage active participation and increase helpful/correct answers
  • Provide high-level visibility for top participants

Points scale

The points scale displays a user’s cumulative points visually in 4 levels:

1-500: 1 star

501-1,000: 2 stars

1,001-10,000: 3 stars

10,001+: 4 stars

Points are one of the criteria used by the Community rewards & incentives program to award quarterly participation rewards.

How do I earn points?

Participants earn points when other forum participants mark their post as Helpful or Correct. This system encourages community engagement and validation. Points are awarded automatically:

5 points for Helpful answer

10 points for Correct answer

While any forum participant can mark a post Helpful, only community moderators can mark a post Correct. Community moderators also have the ability to remove Helpful or Correct designations from posts when they judge the designation has been incorrectly applied.

Adobe does not tolerate point gaming. Point gaming is the practice of a single user creating multiple accounts in order to advance his or her standing in within the community. For example, it is unethical for you to create a false identity for the purpose of marking your own answers, created through your regular account, as “Helpful” or “Correct.” Be yourself. Don’t create false accounts or claim false credentials.

Leaderboards

The leaderboards display the top 10 all-time participants in each forum, and are featured on main forum pages. Leaderboard positions are calculated automatically and determined by cumulative point totals earned in that forum.

Rewards & incentives

In addition to the leaderboard and points program, Adobe recognizes top community participants through its rewards program. The prizes are intended to reward exceptional community contributions and encourage continued participation among top contributors.

Each quarter, top contributors receive a $50 gift card (or equivalent in prizes) in the following categories:

  • 12 discretionary awards for exceptional contributions in any forum.
  • Top 2 community participants in each of the following topic areas:

    • Image storage & retouching (e.g., Lightroom, Bridge, Revel)
    • Digital imaging & editing (e.g., Photoshop, PS Touch, Collage)
    • Illustration & design (e.g., Illustrator, InDesign, Digital Publishing Suite, Ideas)
    • Web design (e.g., Dreamweaver, Muse, Business Catalyst, Typekit, Proto)
    • Web animation (e.g., Dreamweaver, Flash Pro, PhoneGap, Edge)
    • Video editing (e.g., Premiere Pro, Prelude, SpeedGrade, Audition)
    • Motion graphics (e.g., After Effects)
    • Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements
    • Acrobat & Acrobat services
    • RoboHelp & professional services (e.g., Connect, Presenter, Captivate)
    • Application development (e.g., ColdFusion, Flex SDK, Flash Builder)

Winners are selected by Adobe community forum administrators according to the following criteria:

  • Activity during the quarter (points earned and number of posts)
  • Quality of answers
  • Positive community participation and encouragement of others

From time to time, Adobe runs additional incentives and contests to promote participation in specific forums or to help address trending customer issues. Watch for announcements in your favorite forum.

Become a Community Moderator

Adobe community discussions are monitored by a superlative team of volunteer community moderators. These are product experts inside and outside Adobe, most of whom are designers, authors, trainers, or developers. Many of them belong to other credentialed Adobe community programs, such as the Adobe Community Professionals program.

These volunteers monitor and facilitate discussions, moderate questions and replies, and are empowered to improve the overall quality of the content and help everyone succeed. Community moderators can answer questions, edit posts and comments, and mark answers as Helpful or Correct. One of their key roles is to promote good community practices. For that reason, they may edit or delete an entry if it is inappropriate or offensive. Adobe does not impose explicit rules on community moderators regulating such deletions. To do that would undermine the freedom of moderators to exercise creativity in improving their topics.

Community moderators are recommended to Adobe pre-release programs. Once approved by product teams, moderators receive NDA briefings, exclusive product briefings, and weekly technical webinars.

Participation in the community moderator program is reviewed by forum administrators annually. Renewal invites are sent out in the fall of each year. When new moderators are needed, another moderator or an administrator can recruit them directly. However, we are always looking for potential new leaders in the community.

If you are interested in becoming a community moderator for a particular product, please send an email to: CommunityHelp@adobe.com. We will contact you directly if an opening is available.
