For more than 30 years, AARP Driver Safety has helped drivers improve their driving skills and stay safe on the road. We couldn't have done it without our volunteers.

Nationwide, some 7,000+ AARP-trained volunteers instruct, administer and promote the AARP Driver Safety course. AARP Driver Safety volunteers contribute to the safety and well-being of their neighbors and community.

AARP Driver Safety has many volunteer positions available.*

Ways to make a difference

  • Instructors: Organize and teach classroom courses at local community centers, libraries, hospitals and senior centers.

  • Coordinators: Manage AARP Driver Safety courses in your district, region or state. Recruit and supervise instructors, plan and conduct instructor workshops, and work with local sponsors.

  • Marketing Specialists: Locate potential classroom host sites, identify publicity or promotion opportunities and coordinate exhibits at local and statewide events.

What others are saying

"If you're seeking a rewarding opportunity to stay engaged in and give back to your community, this job is for you." — Coordinator, Oregon

"What every one of us does makes a difference in protecting drivers and their families, reducing accidents and fatalities, and teaching people to drive more safely." — Coordinator, Texas

Are you ready to make a difference? If so, please submit your information below!

* All AARP Driver Safety volunteer positions are unpaid. However, volunteers are reimbursed for approved out-of-pocket expenses, such as mileage, parking, postage, long-distance telephone calls and basic supplies.
