Available Data from Unidata Data Available Through Unidata
The mission of the Unidata Program is to help researchers and educators acquire and use earth-related data. Most of the data are provided in "real-time" or "near real-time" -- that is, the data are sent to participants almost as soon as the observations are made. Unidata is a data facilitator, not a data archive center. We provide a mechanism whereby educators and researchers, by participating in our Internet Data Distribution (IDD) system, may subscribe to streams of current data that interest them. In addition, Unidata provides mechanisms for accessing some archived data sets and case studies, and some Unidata sites do archive our data streams in raw, encoded form. There are guidelines for using these data, and a factsheet for a brief overview.
Data-flow Quick Help
Data-flow Quick Help Each "Data Type", when selected, expands to a diagram that illustrates the current display capabilities and maps out the process of how to use that type of data with Unidata tools. Additionally, every object provides information about the data or format, and can be followed to find examples of how the data will look when visualized with Unidata clients. more >
