One-armed surfer travels with no sweat

As a professional surfer, Bethany Hamilton is on the road more than 150 days out of the year.

“It’s a pretty exciting lifestyle. I get to travel all around the world," she says. “I’ve seen a lot of cool places along the way and it’s been awesome.”

YouTube, reality show turn veteran into a star

When Angie Johnson joined the Air Force Band, she never expected it could catapult her to stardom.

In fact, Johnson had pretty much given up on her dreams of a singing career until an audience member at one of her military performances posted a video of her singing on YouTube. Nearly three million people have watched it to date, including Carson Daly, the host of NBC’s “The Voice."

Johnson came home from an overseas tour to audition for the show, where Cee Lo Green chose her for his team. She was eliminated in the battle rounds, but has since performed at the Grand Ole Opry, the White House and CMA Fest.

Robin's rundown: Wednesday June 20, 2012

Morning to you, rock star! Yes, you are!

In the news:
Jerry Sandusky is prepped to take the stand. But will he? That's after his wife, Dottie, testified. You'll hear if her testimony seemed to sit well with jurors.

Yep, he survived!

A South Florida teen is recovering from successful surgery to remove a spear that went straight through his head.

Yasser Lopez’s X-ray is breathtaking. Just to perform the X-ray, doctors had to saw off (very carefully!) a portion of the spear, so Lopez’s head would fit into the scanner. Amazingly, doctors say the spear missed every major blood vessel in Lopez’s brain.

What do you do when you can't get back to sleep? I shopped online overnight for light fixtures. It didn't make me sleepy. But I did buy a sconce. Ha! Speaking of wattage, it's time for you to rise and shine, my dear. Along the way we will bring you these stories:

Bring out your skimpy wear! Summer is this close to officially beginning and it comes with rapidly climbing temperatures for some of your fellow viewers.

See how it's done: In love with a military man

Sure, our men in uniform are strong, but you might be surprised at how lovey-dovey and downright romantic those armor-plated, camo-covered warriors can be, too. Who needs romantic movies when there are plenty of 'Salutes' we've swooned over?

One serious smooch

Robin's rundown: Monday June 18, 2012

Get your drop kick ready. Monday has come calling and we're gonna kick this thing into high gear for you.

In the news, the weather stands to make the persistent Colorado wildfires even worse. That's even though more than 55,000 acres and nearly 200 homes have already burned.
