The Number: Comic-Con, a financial powerhouse?

The week when nerds rule the world is finally here. The doors at Comic-Con are open. What started as a small comic book convention in 1970 is now a monstrous four-day event that showcases the best in comics, sci-fi, film and television.

Every year 130,000 fans descend upon San Diego Convention Center, often in costume, for seminars, signings and sneak previews of upcoming films. Even some of my Bronies are there.

And, sure, a lot of people make fun of the attendees, but they don't see the cold hard truth. Comic-Con is a financial powerhouse.
Which brings us to tonight's number: 162 million.

According to the San Diego Convention and Visitor's Bureau, that is the amount of money Comic-Con generates for San Diego each year.

Cold Wars: Battle for Arctic oil

Nearly two dozen ships on the move to the icy waters of the Arctic. Shell Oil is one step closer to discovering whether there is a bonanza of oil offshore of Alaska's north slope.

Potentially a windfall, but this is an incredibly harsh place – it also happens to be home of a huge amount of wildlife and native Eskimo tribes that rely on those natural resources to survive.
Could arctic oil be the answer to America's energy woes? Or is it another deep water horizon in the making? Our Miguel Marquez traveled to far northern Alaska for answers.

Honor student faces deportation: How does it add up with Pres. Obama's no-deportation policy?

Two sisters in Miami are facing possible deportation tonight after the Department of Homeland Security wants their case thrown out of court.

Daniela became the face of the Dream Act  in March when the high school valedictorian was almost deported back to her native Columbia. Florida Senator Marco Rubio intervened on her behalf, and President Barack Obama announced he wouldn't deport high school graduates who are in the country illegally.

Both Daniela and her sister earned a two-year reprieve from deportation but  the Department of Homeland Security now wants their appeal to stay in the country thrown out.

Daniela Pelaez, her attorney Nera Shefer and Fmr. President, American Immigration Lawyers Association David Leopold are OutFront.
