What is RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. RSS feeds include headlines and brief summaries of stories on a web site such as galvestondailynews.com, with links to the full story on the web site itself.

What do I need to use RSS?

You'll need an RSS reader, also known as a "news aggregator," to collect and display your selected RSS feeds. Some of the very newest Web browsers, like Mozilla Firefox and the upcoming release of Apple's Safari browser, also will support RSS. Otherwise, a number of RSS readers are currently available, and more are released all the time. Search a software site such as http://www.versiontracker.com/ for a reader that will work on your platform.

How do I subscribe to the RSS feeds?

If your browser supports it, simply click on the RSS button next to a feed, then follow the instructions to subscribe to it.

With many browsers, however, you'll need to right-click (or control-click) on the RSS button, select "Copy link to clipboard" (or something similar), then switch to your RSS reader and paste the URL into a feed setup window. The procedure for subscribing to a feed will vary according to the RSS reader you use, however, so you'll need to consult the program's help or documentation for more details.
