  CHICAGO – December 8, 2011. The State of Illinois today welcomed U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Regina M. Benjamin and other members of the National Prevention, Health Promotion and Public Health Council (National Prevention Council) to Illinois. Members met in Chicago today for the first regional meeting of the National Prevention Strategy.

  UTICA - October 30, 2011. Governor Pat Quinn celebrated the 100th anniversary of Starved Rock State Park in Utica and proclaimed today “Starved Rock State Park Day” in Illinois. The state purchased 280 acres and created Starved Rock State Park in 1911. Today the park includes more than 2,800 acres along the Illinois River in La Salle County, and is one of the state’s most popular tourist destinations.

  Scratch-off ticket responsible for about $9 million in funds since 2006

  SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA) today announced $524,925 in grants from Veterans’ Cash scratch-off lottery ticket sales to help nine colleges and non-profits deliver rehabilitative programs and other services for Illinois’ veterans.
