Official Pest Reports
Official Pest Reports are provided by National Plant Protection Organizations within the NAPPO region. These Pest Reports are intended to
comply with the International Plant Protection Convention's Standard on Pest Reporting, endorsed
by the Interim Commission on Phytosanitary Measures in March 2002.
Detection of moniliasis disease (Moniliophthora roreri) in cocoa crops (Theobroma cacao) in the states of Chiapas and Tabasco, Mexico

The National Service for Agri-Food Health, Safety and Quality, through the Plant Health Directorate (DGSV), confirmed the presence of Moniliophthora roreri, in the municipalities of Pichucalco, State of Chiapas, Huimanguillo and Comalcalco in the State of Tabasco.
The DGSV, National Centre for Reference and the network of approved laboratories under the National System for Epidemiological Surveillance made these detections. From these detections, the State Plant Health Committees from Chiapas and Tabasco, in collaboration with the DGSV, are applying management and disease surveillance activities in order to mitigate damages and to avoid the spread to free areas.
Under IPPC Standards, Moniliophthora roreri is considered a pest that is present, only in Pichucalco, State of Chiapas; Huimanguillo and Comalcalco, State of Tabasco where cocoa crops (Theobroma cacao) are grown, subject to official control, transient, actionable and under surveillance.
