Residents from all sides of the borough gathered Saturday to share stories and recipes STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - MIDLAND BEACH - A convivial, friendly crowd of several hundred gathered last Saturday at the Turtle Fountain on the Midland Beach oceanfront as the sun was setting, with one purpose in mind: Celebrating figs. The occasion was the 3rd Annual Staten Island Fig Festival, and the enthusiastic turnout, in picture-perfect late summer weather, was the largest to date.  Full story »
