Oracle Communications Presence

Oracle Communications Presence (OCP) provides a central repository of real-time presence states for users over various communications networks. Oracle Presence implements a complete "presence server" system based on key standards and specifications such as the Internet Engineering Task Force's Session Initiation Protocol for Instant Messaging and Presence Leveraging Extensions (SIMPLE), Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Presence SIMPLE, and OMA XDM (XML Document Management), as well as 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) specifications. Oracle Presence integrates seamlessly with IT systems and Web applications using open standards such as Web services and Java, thereby enabling the rapid delivery of presence and group list-enabled services in a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) or IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)/Next-Generation Network (NGN)-based network infrastructure.

Oracle
Communications Presence allows communications service providers to offer innovative new services by aggregating, managing, and exposing information such as presence, availability, and group lists to other Web and telecom applications from diverse and disparate networks and devices.

Product Features
Focus Area Divider. Presence Server
The Presence Server handles authorization, subscription maintenance, storage, and retrieval of presence information, and is designed to the highest standards of performance, reliability, manageability and efficiency in extremely large scale deployments. The Presence Server can signal online or offline status of users, their contact and georgraphic information, or whether they are available to communicate and how. Presence profiles may be extended to include contact and availability information for virtually any possible means of communication, from simple telephon numbers or email addresses, to individual social networking services, multi-player games and other on-line communities.

XDM Server
Oracle Communications Presence includes a robust XDM server component that supports XML Configuration Access Protocol (XCAP) and is OMA XDM v1.0 compliant. It supports the presence server by providing storage for end-user configuration documents, which control the presence function for individual users. The XDM server is integrated with Oracle Database for high performance, high reliability, availability, and scalability, and can be deployed on common, off-the-shelf hardware.

Presence and XDMC Web Services
To facilitate the development of presence-enabled Web and IMS applications, Oracle Communications Presence provides developers with a Web services interface based on the Parlay X 2.1 Web services standard. Both presence and XDMC Web Services APIs are supported.
Parlay X Presence Web Services APIs make building presence-enabled applications a snap. Oracle Communications Presence provides a standard Web Service interface through which applications and clients may retreive and update Presence information about individual users.
