Happiness is a warm TV

Jon & Kate about to announce split?

The Associated Press is reporting that on Monday, Jon and Kate Gosselin, from TLC's "Jon and Kate Plus Eight," are announcing a major 'life-changing' decision on
their show.

On the TLC Web site, there is a note about a special one-hour episode.

So You Think You Can Dance: Results show

Guest blogger Lenni G. on the results:

First, there was Cat Deeley back on her fashion game big time. Loved her white tuxedo suit - Nigel called her "stunningly attractive and elegant." The way he said that, I assume he also had problems with the big red left side kite thingie from the night before. But I digress.

"Killer Hair": Fashionable and fun!

Sunday at 8 p.m. Lifetime airs the first of its movies based on two novels from Ellen Byerrum's Crimes of Fashion series.

First up, "Killer Hair."

If you want a fun, light chaser to wind up your weekend, tune in.

What to Watch on Friday: NBC brings back the Chopping Block

Chopping Block (8pm, NBC) - This is the Marco Pierre White (left) competition cooking show that was pulled by NBC earlier this year. If you were following along back then, you've probably forgotten everyone and lost interest. If you weren't following along, you don't really care about jumping in in the middle. Good strategy. Tonight, the remaining contestants prepare food using aphrodesiacs.

What Not to Wear (9pm, TLC) - A woman who is mistaken for her husband's mother (ouch!) sheds her frumpy old lady clothes for a new look.

Real Time with Bill Maher (10pm, HBO) - Guests are Meghan McCain and columnist Joel Stein.

"She's Got the Look": and that look is insanity

Last night on TVLand's reality show "She's Got the Look" one of the contestants went crazy.

Seriously. Or I guess she was off when they picked her, but, as the judges said after the event, 'she looked good in a photo' so they overlooked her odd behavior.

This was a woman, after all, who during her interviews said she was like both Mother Teresa and Oprah. Update: Joan of Arc and Oprah. She read odd, but I guess not THIS odd.

Who to call with questions about digital conversion

Unhappiness is a staticky TV.

The switch from analog to digital has many TV viewers suffering through some unanticipated pain
this week. Check out these articles on antenna and power supply problems at UNC-TV and also at WTVD (ABC), the two local stations who seem to be having the most trouble right now.

If the information there doesn't help you, try some of the numbers listed below. Or if you have information that might help other readers, leave it in the comment section.

Oh yeah, and double-rescan!

Watch Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers on "The Colbert Report"

Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers (left) was the guest on Wednesday Tuesday night's "Colbert Report" with Stephen Colbert. Rogers appeared on the show to promote affordable environmental energy options.

Colbert asked Rogers if being called "the environmentalist energy company CEO" was an oxymoron. Rogers responded: "Job one for me is affordable, reliable, clean electricity, providing it 24x7."

Colbert: "Good, because I loves me some electricity. I never turn lights out because that's when the ghosts come out."

Watch the full interview after the jump.

So You Think You Can Dance: The Recap

Guest blogger Lenni Gutafson gives us the scoop on last night's show:

The normally fashion-perfect Cat Deeley hit the stage in what looked like a "big red, left side kite." I know her shoulders are the same width - I've seen them in other strapless outfits. After that initial shock, it was on to the dancing.

What to Watch on Thursday: Another taste of 'NJ Housewives'

The Real Housewives of New Jersey (9pm, Bravo) - In an episode titled "The Last Supper," Bravo treats us to more footage from that smackdown finale dinner party. If you listen closely, you can actually hear the "snap" inside Teresa's head when Danielle tells her to "pay attention." Show includes commentary from the housewives and their families (does this mean no reunion show?!?).

Burn Notice (9pm, USA) - An arms dealer with a grudge against Michael kidnaps Nate and forces Michael to participate in a heist.

The Listener (10pm, NBC) - Toby becomes a murder suspect after he leaves a nightclub with a woman and she turns up dead.

Conversion sticks TV stations with lower power and poor reception

TV sets in the Triangle are still struggling with digital conversion, days after the nationally-mandated switchover on June 12.

UNC-TV is currently working to fix an antenna and power supply problem which will keep some sets Elmo-free throughout the summer. But many local viewers are also having trouble receiving a signal from WTVD, the local ABC affiliate.

ABC's problem appears to be nationwide. Some ABC affiliates, including WTVD, are broadcasting their digital signal on VHF, whereas most other stations broadcast on UHF. The power level assigned by the FCC for these VHF stations is lower, and that is causing the majority of reception problems.
