Potato Disease Advisory 6-23-2011
Beech Anthracnose
Anthracnose has been reported on American beech in the past week. The disease starts out as a leaf spot along the veins, and spreads to large areas. Leaves start to brown completely and curl, then drop. This must have been due to a windy rain event when spores were released, resulting in severe infection on newly expanding leaves. Leaves will drop, but plants should put out new leaves during the season. The long term health of the tree should not be affected.

- Note: NEMATODE ASSAY PROGRAM
- All soil samples for nematode assay analysis must have a Nematode assay information sheet attached (also pdf link on left menu of this page). A check ($10 per sample) and form must accompany the sample, which does not need to be in a specific Nematode Sample Bag from a Delaware County Office. Send to 152 Townsend Hall. Reports will be issued by e-mail or fax following processing.

Late Blight Update for 2011 - Make sure to start with clean tomato plants this year. Late blight can move into out area each year. Hopefully we will not have a cool and rainy season.
