PLEASE NOTE! FRAMES has a new URL: www.frames.gov Due to a reorganization of programs at USGS, after Jan. 15, 2012, old urls that contain http://frames.nbii.gov will break, so if you have bookmarked FRAMES, or shared FRAMES urls with others, please update them. We apologize for the inconvenience. Welcome to the Alaska Fire Portal The Alaska Fire Portal provides information about fire science and technology relevant to Alaska. Our goal is to provide "one-stop shopping" for resource managers, decision makers, scientists, students, and communities who want access to the results of efforts to understand and manage fire and fuels on lands in Alaska. Content within this portal may also be relevant to the boreal forests of western Canada. Much of the Alaska-related content was originally compiled through the FIREHouse project (the Northwest and Alaska Fire Research Clearinghouse), funded by the Joint Fire Science Program, and it's two related projects (highlighted on the right side of this page): the Alaska Fire Effects Reference Database (which has been rolled into the FRAMES Resource Cataloging System) and the Alaska Fire and Fuels Research Map, hosted through the AICC ArcIMS mapping website.
