February 11, 2011 - GLEDN-GISIN Data Provider Training via remote access . To facilitate data sharing with the Great Lakes Early Detection Network (GLEDN) and throughout the Great Lakes region, a GLEDN-GISIN Data Provider Training Workshop was held by remote access. The GLEDN is a collaboration among multiple stakeholders working to rapidly respond to new invasive plant species sightings in the Great Lakes states (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York). To accomplish this, a web-based alert system automatically sends emails to GLEDN users when new sightings for species or areas of interest are entered into one of GISIN's member data management systems. As new sightings are reported, a network of professionals in the region will be available to verify new sightings and natural resource managers will be notified to take appropriate management actions.
