USGS Gap Analysis Program has created interactive maps for viewing its data sets. Each of these Viewers enables users to browse and download all or parts of the data sets.

Northern Rocky Mountain Subalpine Woodland and Parkland

The National Land Cover Viewer displays data on the vegetation and land use patterns of the continental United States. It combines land cover data generated for the Southwest Regional Gap Analysis project completed in 2004, the Southeast Regional Gap Analysis Project completed in 2007, the Northwest Regional Gap project, and the updated California Gap project completed in 2009. For areas of the country without an Ecological System level Gap project, data created by the Landfire Project was used. All these projects use consistent base satellite imagery, the same classification systems and similar mapping methodology allowing for the creation of a seamless national land cover map.

PAD-US VIEWER

The Protected Areas Database of the United States (PAD-US) is a national database of federal and state conservation lands. It contains the most current information about publicly held conservation lands (with conservation measures available) in the U.S. It was first published for delivery to the UNEP-World Conservation Monitoring Center’s (WCMC) World Database for Protected Areas (WDPA) in April 2009 by USGS GAP, on behalf of the PAD-US Partnership.

SPECIES VIEWER

GAPs species range and predicted habitat distribution maps display the locations on vertebrate species habitat across the country.  More specifically, species distribution models based on deductive modeling of habitat associations are displayed across entire species ranges for over 2000 species. Our goal is to build species range maps and distribution models with the best available data for assessing conservation status, conservation planning, and research (e.g., climate change impacts). These models are under development and are made available as they are completed.

AQUATIC DATA VIEWER

The Aquatic GAP project's data viewer enables exploration of data about aquatic species.

The Aquatic GAP Viewer enables the querying and visualization of the modeled presence of over 500 aquatic vertebrate and invertebrate species in streams and rivers across the continental United States.  The tool brings together data from eight regional projects (Iowa, Flint River Basin in Georgia, Kansas, Upper Missouri, Missouri, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Ohio) into a unified interface and data model that is queryable using National Hydrography Dataset Plus (NHDPlus) catchment identifiers or Hydrologic Unit Codes (HUC12).
