Support and Sponsor

They're words that you hear often on public radio - and worth saying again: "Thank you for your support!" Millions of listeners across the country sustain public radio. And corporate sponsors, philanthropists and foundations play a key role too.

Alabama Member Stations Hold Ground During Tornado

As devastating storms with gigantic tornadoes swept through Alabama in April, NPR Member stations work against many odds to continue to keep their communities informed. Residents turned to Alabama Public Radio in Tuscaloosa and WLRH in Huntsville to find crucial updates on the storms, a critical source of news especially when other news outlets lost power or were damaged in the storms.

Funding Story

NPR's revenue comes primarily from fees paid by our member stations, contributions from corporate sponsors, institutional foundation grants, gifts from major donors, and fees paid by users of The Public Radio Satellite System. We receive no direct federal funding for operations. The largest share of NPR's revenue comes from program fees and station dues paid by member stations that broadcast NPR programs.
