post preps: boys soccerDenver East scores early, maintains shutout streak to capture 5A boys soccer

Denver East 2, Heritage 0
11/10/2011 08:09 AM MST
About the only thing that went wrong for the Denver East Angels was the trophy malfunction. Mere moments after they captured their first state title since 2008 with a 2-0 victory over Heritage at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
Mullen, behind Skyler Erickson, wins 4A boys soccer title
11/10/2011 08:02 AM MST - It has been a rough couple of seasons for Mullen's Skyler Erickson. He has battled a nagging sports hernia that required five surgeries. As a result, he was only able to play in five games in 2011.

11/10/2011 10:05 AM MST - It was first heard years ago, continues today and usually starts after he suits up and takes off behind his Longmont Trojans teammates.

Ty's time management tip: I make a list of what I need to do, then do whatever's most important. Whenever I have time for homework or have to do it, I get it done, then I try to leave time for family and hanging out with friends.

AAron Ontiveroz, The Denver Post
What high school sports mean to Lucy: High school sports are really important and I love them. It's why I play, but I like them mostly because they're fun and you have a ball with people you wouldn't normally be friends with. There's some camaraderie you don't get from other aspects of school.

Game of the Week

Monarch bruises way by Wheat Ridge to Mountain Plains title
Never a team to care much about last chances, Phil Bravo's band of bruisers at Monarch just don't see the world ending. They see opportunity, a sliver of daylight enough to keep moving.
