Update: Thomas Bogdan chosen to lead UCAR

October 18, 2011—The Board of Trustees of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research has named Thomas J. Bogdan to be the next president of UCAR. Bogdan will succeed Anthes as president on January 9, 2012. more details in UCAR Magazine>

UCAR Joins Scientific Organizations Signing Letter to Senate on Climate Change

As the U.S. Senate considers climate change legislation, 18 leading scientific organizations have sent a letter to members of the senate reaffirming the scientific consensus that climate change is occurring and that greenhouse gases from human activities are the primary driver. more  >


 

UCAR's newest site takes on a new name: On 5 October 2010, UCAR President, Richard Anthes, was presented with a plaque to be mounted at 3375 Mitchell Lane, designating it as "The Anthes Building.” more  >

On April 2, 2008, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies invited Dr. Anthes to participate in a hearing on FY 2009 funding for NSF, NASA and NOAA. His oral remarks were pulled from his longer, written testimony (PDF).
