Lip Gloss Fanatics Take Note: Stila's Doing Skincare

Beauty brand Stila, who is beloved for their lip and cheek stains and smudgeproof eyeliners, is branching out into skincare. Though the brand has made a couple of skin products in the past, including a BB cream, this is their first official full-on skincare line. Each of the six pieces has a cute name like Coming Clean (cleanser, not surprisingly) or Glowing Reviews (scrub), and the packaging is crisp and streamlined.

So what's with makeup companies hopping on the skincare bandwagon this year? NARS released their first full-range skin line a few months ago, and just like Stila they stuck with a small lineup of products in stark white packaging. BB cream, a combo of skincare and makeup, has a lot to do with it—Bobbi Brown also did one. It's also a pretty logical way for a successful beauty company to expand, since skincare products are usually more expensive. Just check out the prices of eye creams vs eye pencils for proof.

Strange Bedfellows

Today in strange bedfellow happenings, WWD reports that Wal-Mart's six month old publishing venture, Beauty Scoop, is produced by—gasp—Condé Nast. The 12 page glossy is a super secret you-scratch-my-back-I'll-scratch-yours relationship that's raising industry eyebrows, but it's tough to figure out who benefits the most from it—and which brand image gets the toughest blow from this investigative reporting. It's Week Eight of Project Runway All Stars and déjà vu, things are looking all too familiar. Laura Kathleen makes another pair of palazzo pants, Uli creates another white dress with feathers, and yes, once again, Anthony Ryan is over-praised by the judges. But we'll get to all that shortly...

Things kick off with Carolyn informing the designers that their challenge for the week is to create a Twenties-inspired look for a modern woman. Our host then offers the designers six envelopes. Each holds a card listing one of three events the All Stars must design for: an afternoon garden party, a social soiree or an afterhours speakeasy. The choices don't include The Backroom at Loehmann's, but judging by this episode's designs, it should have.

We Salute Current/Elliott's Namesakes With 3 Favorite Collabs

Emily Current and Meritt Elliott are exiting their eponymous denim label Current/Elliott, WWD reports. They launched the brand, which has inspired cult status among celebrity and lay-pants-wearers alike since it began just four years ago, with Serge Azria, who also owns Equipment and Joie.

When we spoke with the designer/stylist pair in 2011, we learned that they like yoga and quoting Tom Ford, get busy dressing the likes of Emma Roberts and Mandy Moore, and are seasoned line dancers (kind of). Also, they love a good collab. Our favorites from Current/Elliott's past after the jump.
