Puget Sound Clean Air Agency

Improving neighborhood air quality through compliance

The Compliance and Legal Division of the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency is comprised of engineers, inspectors and legal staff working together to enforce the regulations that protect the air we breathe.

Engineers review and issue permits for business operations that create ‑ or have the potential to create ‑ air pollution or nuisance odors within King, Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish counties.  These include businesses like cement plants, industrial boilers, composting operations, coffee roasters, gas stations and spray-coating facilities.

Inspectors inspect these businesses to ensure their operations comply with agency permits and regulations.  They also respond to complaints about odor, dust, asbestos and smoke.

The following examples illustrate some of the ways we are working to protect neighborhood air quality.
